Cultural actions and digital media

Abstract

The issue number 07 of the V!RUS journal intends to discuss cultural actions and practices related to culture universe structured from the use of digital media.

Its our interest to discuss actions of cultural nature which aim to change cultural, social scope, and others. Meanwhile, we prioritize actions which seek to promote processes that support the creation of reflexive and content producer individuals, in the opposite of those that focus in formal education completion, or in audience formation with characteristics of passive consumers. We are interested in testimonials, thoughts and products that involve processes which make possible reverberations, allowing the emergence of not determinated contents, subjected to unpredictability, that might suggest inputs for another processes.

In the context of promotion of such practices, we seek to think more deeply the role of the qualified use of digital media, from its formulation, development, implementation, analysis and development.

Are welcome papers that focus on the role of the various members involved in actions with these characteristics, being agents or cultural producers, acting in public or private institutions, academic or communitary, independent organizations, art or digital culture collectives, among others actors groups.

We intend to expand our dialogue with many fields of knowledge around this theme, present in the broader theoritical discussions in Social Sciences, Arts, Education, Philosophy, Public Policies, Socio-environmental Sustentability, applied transdisciplinary researches. This theme it is also included on the agenda - and practices - of different collectives related to many artistic expressions and digital culture, artists related to mediart, and groups of people from the Free Media movement, among others.

Beyond texts and static images, will be welcome short videos, slideshows, photographs, testimonials in audio files, architecture, animations, interviews, and multi-language architecture, urbanism and design projects and also the critical thoughts on their conception , considering Nomads.usp interest in exploring possibilities of using digital media for science reasearch and diffusion.

The contributions will be received through the journal’s website until March 19th, 2012 , according to the guidelines for authors, available at www.nomads.usp.br/virus/submissao_submission.php.

_December 2011: first call of contributions
_05 March 2012: deadline for receipt of contributions
_19 March 2012: extended deadline for receipt of contributions
_23 April: sending notices of acceptance and requests for adjustments to the authors
_07 May: deadline for author’s adjustments
_16 May: review of the translations by the authors
_23 May: deadline for receipt of translation’s correction from authors
_early June: launch of V!RUS 07
