Abstract

We begin our conversation with AQUARPA. A project of Laboratório de Construção de Instrumentos Musicais at Departamento de Artes e Comunicação at Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar), the group integrates experimental musical instruments, musical improvisation, video, and digital technology. Its members develop acoustic, electronic and digital musical instruments, digital interfaces of video improvisation, and create performances in sound and video.

Author Biographies

Eduardo Néspoli, Federal University of Sao Carlos

He is bachelor's at Música from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1997), master's at Arts from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2004) and doctorate at Arts from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2009). He is currently prof. adjunto at Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Has experience in Arts, focusing on Music, acting on the following subjects: music, performance, sonorous art, musical instruments and education.

Thiago Salas, Federal University of São Carlos

Master in Sonology at the School of Communications and Arts, University of São Paulo. Graduated in Music at the Federal University of São Carlos. He works with composition and improvisation in experimental and contemporary music, sound art and performance, having worked in partnerships with artists of different languages in hybrid creations. He worked with Cias de Dança e Teatro in the composition of soundtracks and musical direction. Since 2015 he has been conducting research on the relationship between gesture and technology with the creation platform APT.LAB.

Lucas Almeida, Federal University of Sao Carlos

He is a member of the Caburé Jazz Club group, musician and master's student at the Graduate Program in Science, Technology and Society (PPGCTS) at UFSCar.
